- May 5th-July 27th: The 1912 Summer Olympics in Sweden were one of progress, movement, and firsts ("Stockholm 1912"). The games saw a large leap in women's athletics with the modern pentathlon, women's diving, and women's swimming all being introduced in the 1912 Olympics ("Stockholm 1912"). Japan participated in the Olympics for the first time and participants from all five of the recognized, inhabited continents participated in these games ("Stockholm 1912"). There was also the introduction of the first automatic timing devices and photo finishes ("Stockholm 1912"). The Olympic Games in Sweden overall were progressing into a more modern, involved event and set a standard that would be hard to match in games to come ("Stockholm 1912").

Death Of John tomlinson Brush

- November 26th: In late November of 1912, John Tomlinson Brush passed away while recuperating from a hip injury (Saccoman). Brush was a wealthy department store mogul who purchased his first baseball team in 1887, the Indianapolis Hoosiers (Saccoman). He would go on to own several baseball teams, including the New York Giants, and would become a large influence to early 1900s baseball (Saccoman). His actions in trading players would become an almost standard in the game and his introduction of several rules would show lasting effects (Saccoman). Despite his many accomplishments in his life, Brush died with little popularity and was often criticized for unethical dealings (Saccoman).

- April 20th: Opened as the Fenway Park Grounds in April of 1912, Fenway Park is a historical landmark in baseball history ("Fenway Park"). It holds the title of being the oldest major league baseball park found in the United States and has on multiple occasions declared the best baseball park at which to watch a baseball game ("Fenway Park"). Baseball star Babe Ruth began his explosive career at Fenway Park and many noticeable baseball stars have since bloomed from Fenway ("Fenway Park"). Fenway Park continues to show its importance and is still one of the most visited tourist destinations in Boston ("Fenway Park").
